This is a list of PlayStation 2 games for PlayStation 4 available from the PlayStation Store. These are the original games software emulated in high-definition[1] with the addition of PlayStation 4 features such as Trophies,[2] Remote Play and Share Play.[3] These games are also playable on PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility.[4]
The simple thing that you first need to do is download immediately to your computer a PS2 emulator. One of the prized PC emulators is PCSX2. The software supports both Windows and Mac OS operating systems. By connecting the controllers, your device is now no less than the original PS2. For Android devices, you can use the DamonPS2 PRO emulator to run PS2 games with 60FPS along with controls optimized for the touch screen.
If you have an Android device, you can download the DamonPS2 Pro emulator to play PS2 games on your device at 650FPS and with touchscreen optimized controls. The PlayStation 2 emulators are available on our website for free download.
We featured the first Klonoa in our list of underappreciated PS1 games, and the series continued to impress with its PS2 outing, which also went largely unnoticed, despite critical acclaim.
Finally, the Premium tier adds a selection of PS1, PS2 and PSP games to download and PS3 games via cloud streaming, as well as streaming access to the other PS1, PS2, PSP and PS4 titles in the library.
The below tables outline the type and quantity of games available for download and/or streaming via the various PlayStation Plus subscription tiers. Downloadable games can be played on a PS4 (except for PS5 exclusives) or PS5. Streamable games can be streamed to a PS4, PS5 or PC.
All three tiers (including Essential) also include two specific downloadable games per month. The two higher tiers also include access to 27 games through Ubisoft+ Classics. See below for more info on both of those.
Perhaps you prefer using your own PlayStation 2 games instead of downloading them from the Internet? Or maybe you just want to keep backup copies of your PlayStation 2 games? Whatever the case, here's how you can dump your games:
In June 2022, Sony launched a revamped PlayStation Plus, one that incorporates a subscription model akin to the defunct PS Now. As the service is split into three tiers, people can decide whether they only want access to online multiplayer and a few free games per month or hundreds of titles from across PlayStation history. PS Plus Premium is the most expensive membership as it includes the Classics Catalog, a library consisting of PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games. The tier also has some PS4 remasters of PS3 releases.
As of June, PS Plus will be available in three tiers. While the basic tier - PS Plus Essential - will be basically the same as PS Plus is now, and offer two free games per month, the two more expensive tiers will offer access to extensive game libraries - over 400 games for the middle PS Plus Extra tier, and then over 700 for the PS Plus Premium echelon.
PS Plus Extra gets you access to 400 of what Sony is calling the "most enjoyable PS4 and PS5 games" and that will include both PlayStation Studios titles and third-party games. All the games in this tier will be available to download, rather than stream.
However, this tier will also get you access to another 340 games on top of those, which is where all those questions around can I play PS1 games on PS5 are coming from. Yes, the additional titles for the PS Premium games include titles from the PS3, PS1, PS2, and PSP generations. While PS1, PS2, and will be available to download or stream (although it does seem to suggest PS3 titles will be available to stream only).
Here are all the confirmed PS Plus Premium games, which range from PS1 and PSP titles that you'll be able to download and play, to PS3 games that you can stream. There is also a handful of Remasters available for PS Plus Premium subscribers and some limited-time game demos too.
You can find a lot of emulators that can support PS2 games. Most of them will also support PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3. Some will even support PS4 and Vita. However, since this article is all about the best PS2 emulator for Windows 10 PC, I will focus only on them. Download these free PS2 emulators and enjoy playing retro PlayStation games.

PlayStation 2 emulation has been in a weird place on Android for a long, long time. While it's been possible to emulate the system on your smartphone using a certain emulator available on the Play Store, allegations of stolen code and unethical business practices meant many, ourselves included, refused to promote the app, even if it was the best way to play them. Now, AetherSX2 is the best way to play PlayStation 2 games on your Android smartphone. It's free, it's fast, and you can now download it from the Google Play Store. You just need a smartphone with top-of-the-line specifications.
I would rather the PS5 work properly and be bug free. If I want to play old games, I'll plug in an old system. It's like buying a new Corvette and wanting it to drive like a 1987 Oldsmobile on the weekend.
There is still a chance for sony to announce that PS5 has an extra CELL SOC for BC. Doesn't need to be on 7+ NM. 14NM is very cheap now and I think they can cool that sucker passively. Much better solution than software emulation, and I think finally cheaper. Even for PS Now will reduce the strain on their servers and just download the old games on the console. For that I will pay 600$ no brainer
Many older games are available via PlayStation Now and Nintendo Switch Online, but what happens when a subscription service is no longer supported and companies stop storing games on their servers? Unless you have a DRM-free copy of a game, and a way to play it, you're at the mercy of game distributors and their bottom lines.
MAME(Opens in a new window) is the best way to play arcade games on your PC, but it's not particularly user-friendly. The emulator offers a bare-bones graphical interface, but it's clunky and confusing. Your best bet is to activate MAME through the command line, no matter how adverse to coding you might be, or download a compatible third-party front end.
As an emulator, MAME allows you to play games from many Capcom, Namco, Neo Geo, and Sega arcade systems, plus some older home consoles and personal computers. MAME even offers a page with ROMs that are safe to download, if you'd prefer to avoid any legal gray areas. Remember that not all ROMs will play perfectly, so developers also offer an FAQ page(Opens in a new window) for game-specific issues you might come across.
OpenEmu is a Mac exclusive that works with a long list of systems(Opens in a new window), including: Atari, DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, NES, N64, PS1, PSP, Sega Genesis, Super NES, and more. The program contains a game library and comes with a collection of homebrew games. You can also add filters, configure controllers, take screenshots, and maintain many different save states at once. Setup is easy, but we have a full guide to get you started.
PPSSPP(Opens in a new window) is the emulator you turn to for playing PlayStation Portable games on a computer or mobile device. It's a free program, but you can also purchase PPSSPP Gold(Opens in a new window) to support the developers. Whether on a PC or phone, the emulator includes a customizable games library that will list all the titles you have previously uploaded for easy access. You can also download homebrew games directly through the emulator.
For Dreamcast games, Redream(Opens in a new window) is your best option. The developers advertise the emulator's compatibility with a list of games(Opens in a new window) and how well they work with the program. Redream also requires no BIOS files or controller configurations. The emulator allows you to upload games into the program's library for easy access. You can then switch titles mid-game, apply cheat codes, connect a controller, and even remap buttons.
If you prefer not to be stuck on a computer, you can build a classic game system for cheap with a Raspberry Pi board and an operating system to run it. This is where RetroPie(Opens in a new window) comes in; it's a free Linux distribution based on Raspbian and combines LibRetro's RetroArch API with the EmulationStation front end. Other items you will need include an SD card for games, case, power source, and controller.
There is an extensive list of PlayStation 3 games, but you can only access them via streaming (available to stream on PS4, PS5, and PC in countries where cloud streaming is available). You can find the full list below.
Finally, PS+ Premium has the PS+ Extra treatment but also contains the cloud-based PS3 library. PS+ Premium also has a library of over 340 classic downloadable PSOne and PS2 games, which will be expanded every month. PS+ Premium subscribers will also be offered time-limited game trials for titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and WWE 2K22, which last between two to five hours, with progress from these demos carrying over to the base game once purchased. PS+ Premium comes at $119.99 a year. 2ff7e9595c
